Ignition and Combustion Characteristics of B/NC/CuO Thermite Microparticles

چکیده
To improve the combustion stability and ignition performance of thermite, B/NC/CuO micro particles were prepared from boron (B), nano copper oxide (CuO), nitrocellulose (NC) as an energetic binder through electrospray technique. The burning rate dependency on content, ambient temperature, pressure was estimated by compressing into columns. Scanning electron microscopy results show that sizes these mostly lie in range 3–4 ?m. are ignitable burn consistently with minor variations conditions: B content (8.3–17%), temperature (?50–55 °C), (0.02–0.1 MPa). optimum formula observed for 11 wt% content. Compared ball milling sample, standard deviation electrosprayed sample reduced 32%. Combustion is barely affected pressure. Between ?50 °C to 55 °C, increases 14.16% initial 13.35 mm?s?1. In addition, laser energy required microparticles also 70 45 mJ.

Thermite powder ignition by localized microwaves
This paper presents a new method to ignite pure thermite powder by low-power microwaves ( 100 W). In this method, the microwave energy is supplied locally to the powder. It creates a confined hotspot, and initiates a self-propagating combustion in the entire powder volume. The coupled thermal–electromagnetic interaction evolved within the powder prior to its ignition is simulated theoretically,...
متن کاملComputational Modeling of Combustion Wave in Nanoscale Thermite Reaction
Nanoscale thermites such as the composite mixture of nano-sized aluminum and molybdenum trioxide powders possess several technical advantages such as much higher reaction rate and shorter ignition delay, when compared to the conventional energetic formulations made of micron-sized metal and oxidizer particles. In this study, the self-propagation of combustion wave in compacted pellets of nanosc...
متن کاملPhase Changes in Boron Ignition and Combustion
The ignition of electrically heated boron filaments in air and argon/oxygen mixtures has been studied. Boron filament resistance, temperature, and emissions from the BO and BO2 bands were monitored. Preliminary experimental data have also been obtained to characterize the phases formed inside burning boron particles produced and ignited from the same filament material by feeding a vibrating bor...
متن کاملEffect of Injection Characteristics on Emissions and Combustion of a Gasoline Fuelled Partially-premixed Compression Ignition Engine
Conventional compression ignition (CI) engines are known for their high thermal efficiency compared to spark ignited (SI) engines. Gasoline because of its higher ignition delay has much lower soot emission in comparison with diesel fuel. Using double injection strategy reduces the maximum heat release rate that leads to NOx emission reduction. In this paper, a numerical study of a gasoline fuel...
متن کاملEvaporation and Ignition Characteristics of Water Emulsified Diesel under Conventional and Low Temperature Combustion Conditions
The combination of emulsified diesel and low temperature combustion (LTC) technology has great potential in reducing engine emissions. A visualization study on the spray and combustion characteristics of water emulsified diesel was conducted experimentally in a constant volume chamber under conventional and LTC conditions. The effects of ambient temperature on the evaporation, ignition and comb...
